Diablo 4 is a game that destroys not only fans' nerves with various problems, but also entire video cards. The Blizzard support forum as well as the Reddit thematic forums were filled with messages from owners of GeForce RTX 3080 Ti video cards, who were unaware that their screen had stopped showing any information (turned black) while playing the Diablo 4 beta version.
Users who have experienced a similar issue describe the same symptoms in one of the cut-scenes in the game: the video card fans suddenly begin working at maximum speed and the image disappears from the monitor, only a black screen is visible; even after a reboot, the video card no longer works for many.
“My monitors were turned off during the cut-scene in the chapel,” said one user. I had to restart the computer but the motherboard has given me error code 97. “My GPU is dead.”
When my map fans went full blast, another user was more accustom: “My screen went black and I had to restart my computer to get my 3080 Ti to reboot and display something again.”
And there are already more than a dozen of them. For others, the video card started up again only on the third or fourth attempt, but for others it completely stopped working, becoming incapable of passing POST when the system boots. Someone was helped by changing the BIOS mode of the video card.
Many of the cases we saw in the New World game were caused by accident. Both systems suddenly accelerated the fans to maximum speed and then stopped showing signs of life. Then the cause of all problems was discovered in the video cards themselves.
