Microsoft / Activision Blizzard: A report claims the European Commission has postponed a decision on ...

Is it possible for Microsoft to take over Activision Blizzard as planned? The deal is still a deadlock because governments around the world must come to an agreement, which takes longer than expected in Europe.

Microsoft is waiting for an agreement to acquire Activision Blizzard for a hefty sum and incorporate it into Xbox Studios. That’s because antitrust authorities across the world must approve the entire scope of the transaction. In Europe, however, the decision will still be pending.

After the deadline had already been extended once before, a decision on the European market was actually scheduled for April 25th – in about a month.

The Commission intends to take advantage of this additional opportunity to research further input from Microsoft's competitors and end consumers. At the same time, it allows Microsoft to continue to sell Activision Blizzard games and titles to other providers in the long run, especially since there are less worries about limiting competition.

Sony is said to have been offered a similar 10-year deal, but they have yet to sign one. It remains to be seen how the $ 68.7 billion plan will continue.
