RuStore, a domestic marketplace, is not preinstalled on Android smartphones, although it is included in the list of applications required to be preinstalled on all phones sold in the country.
RuStore is not available on all phones delivered to Russian stores since the beginning of 2023, according to journalists. M.Video-Eldorado, DNS, and MegaFon are not yet available.
The appearance of devices in stores may depend on the time of production and the delivery of specific batches to the country, according to the press service.
In November last year, the Russian Federation approved a marketplace RuStore as a pre-installation requirement. The ordinance itself became effective on March 1, 2023. For the first time, the Ministry of Digital Transformation recommended the need to pre-install the marketplace on all "technically complex devices" in Russia in May 2022.
