Is a renewal or cancellation an option?
Shadow and Bone is a thoroughly enjoyable fantasy series, with excellent production values and a loving bunch of characters. After having completed the entire series, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or canceled. Here's what we've learned thus far.
What is the focus of Season 2 of Shadow and Bone?
With our dual storylines taking precedence for the eight episodes of Shadow and Bone, Alina returns to the fold once more.
Kirigan is still lurking around, having survived the assault during season 1's conclusion. Even worse, he's now in charge of those shadow monsters and is ready to pull Alina out regardless of what.
Kaz leads the Crows on various heist missions that eventually weave their way into Alina's plot during the final two episodes.

Is Shadow and Bone renewed for a third season?
Shadow and Bone has not been renewed for a third season at the time of writing. This may very well change depending on how good the show performs for Netflix.
Before renewing a program, Netflix typically checks several things, such as how many people initially see it, and the drop-off rate. The completion rate is one of the most important metrics, as recently revealed with the shock cancellation of 1899.
Cancellations or renewals of certain shows are quick (such as Squid Game, Bridgerton, and Irregulars) and other times, it can take weeks before Netflix makes a decision about a show's future.
Shadow and Bone has received good reviews from critics and audiences alike, although some avid book readers have expressed their displeasure at how certain plot points have been altered and the increased emphasis on the Crows.
Given the way this program is structured, we're predicting that this program will not be renewed for a third season. So why is this a no-brainer? Well, given we've seen heavy-hitters like The OA, 1899, and Warrior Nun fall by the wayside, Shadow and Bone might well follow suit.

What we know so far about season 3:
Season 3 of Netflix hasn't been approved at this time, and so far little is known about the sequel. If this is renewed, the threat will gravitate toward this Fjerdan weapon, the virus that caused the "red wedding," and the world's havoc.
We do hope we're wrong on that front. We'll have to wait and see what happens. We'll definitely update this page when more information becomes available!
