The recently-dead NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 12GB graphics card has been benchmarked by Chiphell Forums, giving us a glimpse of the AD104 GPU's potential limitations.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB graphics card was scheduled to be available for $899 US next month. However, due to the substantial performance difference between the 16 GB and 12 GB versions, NVIDIA chose to ditch the 12 GB version while continuing to develop the 16 GB version on November 16.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB graphics card lacks information such as the model number, but it does have a maximum GPU rate of 2820 MHz and uses 262W of power. In the AIDA64 GPGPU test, the GPU was able to provide a maximum FP32 computation power of 42 TFLOPs.
The GPU averaged 67.52 frames per second in the in-game benchmark for Cyberpunk 2077.
The now-cancelled RTX 4080 12GB was equipped with the AD104-400 GPU and 7680 CUDA cores. It was assumed to have a 192-bit bus interface and 48-MB of L2 cache, providing 504 GB/s of memory bandwidth.
Fans have called the RTX 4080 12 GB a "imposter GPU." In fact, this GPU is advertised as a 80 series processor that has 70 class requirements. This might have putting NVIDIA in a difficult position, resulting in its cancellation.
