NASA and the CSA are set to reveal artemis II moon astronauts in a countdown to history ...

Artemis II is the first crewed flight study on NASA's quest to establish a long-term scientific and human presence on the lunar surface.

NASA and the Canadian Space Agency will unveil the four astronauts who will walk around the Moon at the NASA Johnson Space Center's Ellington Field on Monday, April 3. The first crewed flight test on the agency's path to establishing a long-term scientific and human presence on the lunar surface will take place at 11 a.m. EDT (10 a.m. CDT)

The program will be available on NASA Television, the NASA app, and the agency's website.

The first crewed flight of the Space Launch System and the Orion spacecraft around the Moon will take astronauts on their first flight aboard NASA's Orion spacecraft. Their task will be to verify that all of the spacecraft's components are working as designed in deep space.

Artemis II is the first crewed mission aboard NASA's fundamental human deep space capabilities, including the Space Launch System rocket, the Orion spacecraft, and the ground systems necessary to launch them. The roughly 10-day mission will examine and demonstrate the Orion spacecraft's life-support systems in ways only humans can do.

Three NASA astronauts and one CSA astronaut will join the crew, demonstrating the agency's commitment to international collaboration through the Artemis program. Artemis II builds on the successful Artemis I flight test, which launched an uncrewed Orion, atop the SLS rocket, on a 1.4 million-mile journey beyond the Moon to test systems before astronauts board the systems on a mission to the Moon.
