Officials in the United Kingdom are prohibited from using TikTok on their work phones ...

Bloomberg reports that the UK has announced that it would prohibit the use of the popular TikTok short video service on government owned phones and other devices, according to British Cabinet Secretary Oliver Dowden.

Dowden wrote on his twitter account that the UK would immediately ban TikTok on government phones. The move was made for security reasons.

According to reports, the decision to prohibit TikTok came after an audit led by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The commission concluded that "accessing confidential government data and their use by certain platforms" are "hazardous." Also, owners of government devices will only be permitted to access third-party apps from a pre-approved list.

The restriction on the use of TikTok by government employees will not apply to their personal devices, according to a recent article from the European Commission.
