Emmett Shear, the CEO of Twitch, has announced his retirement from the company after more than a decade of working with the platform.
Shear said in a blog post that his involvement with Twitch began in 2006, when the service was still called Justin.tv. As a reason for his leaving, he cited his desire to concentrate on his family and tackle new challenges.
He expressed his wish to continue to work with Twitch in a consultative capacity. Dan Clancy, the current CEO of Twitch, will take over as CEO. Shear expressed gratitude to streamers who trusted Twitch with their content and communities, as well as to Amazon for being an excellent acquirer.
Shear paid tribute to Clancy for his dedication to the Twitch community and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the company in his last post.
