Due to a series of delays, the development team for this game has had to reorganize. After falling short of their 2020 release deadline, they announced that the remake of the classic game would be released in late 2021, then again in 2022 and March 2023.
Nightdive Studios promises that the game will include fresh weapons, a more up-to-date UI, and a slashing mechanic inspired by the Dead Space remake. Additionally, the System Shock remake will include improved music and a new hacking mechanism.
Nightdive Studios is confident that the System Shock remake will be a success. However, they were unable to develop System Shock 3, which was because Tencent had acquired the rights to develop it.
The PC version of System Shock will be released on March 30, 2023, while a console version will be released later this year on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
