Foxconn, the world's largest contract manufacturer, is the first to manufacture AirPods TWS headphones for the first time. A number of Chinese suppliers are now responsible for them, and Foxconn's decision will underscore Apple's desire to diversify its operations outside of China, according to a source in the Indian state of Telangana.

The Foxconn group considered whether or not to take on the AirPods' assembly, which is relatively low-margin, but eventually decided to accept the responsibility to cement its relationship with Apple. At the same time, the Taiwanese plan to begin construction on a new facility in Telangana in the second half of this year.
