Guillermo del Toro is back working on a new film that will recreate Mary Shelley's 1818 gothic novel.

The filmmaker has been working on the Frankenstein project for a long time and has long desired to create a film based on Mary Shelley's famous story. It is unknown when the pictures will take place, nor who will play Victor Frankenstein and his "monster." Mia Goth is expected to play Professor Elizabeth Lavenza's beloved woman.

Mary Shelley's iconic 1818 novel, often cited as the beginning of the modern science fiction genre, has been adapted into films many times. The most famous adaptation is James Weil's 1931 Frankenstein, which launched Universal's successful monster film series.

The cast has yet to be officially cast, but del Toro has already spoken with all three.

Isaac was recently cast as writer Kurt Vonnegut on Helltown in the Emmy-nominated HBO series Scenes from a Marriage and the Marvel miniseries Moon Knight.

For his role as Detective Jeb Pirie in the Hulu miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven, Garfield was nominated for an Emmy and a Screen Actors Guild Award, and he will star alongside Florence Pugh in the StudioCanal film We Live In Time.

"Scream Queen" is the role of an actress who frequently appears on the screen as a victim pursued by monsters and maniacs in horror films or regularly plays the main female roles in genre films, such as Mia Goth's 2022 slasher film X, its prequel Pearl, and sequel Maxine, as well as the sci-fi horror film Infinity Pool, which is due out this year.

After being nominated twice for Best Director and Best Picture for The Shape of Water in 2017, Del Toro was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film in 2007 and 2022 for Best Picture for the psychological thriller Nightmare Alley.
