Beijing Does Not Have Data On Kim Jong-Un's Health Status
The Chinese Foreign Ministry does not have information about the state of health of North Korean state Council Chairman Kim Jong-un but can confirm bilateral cooperation with Pyongyang to prevent the spread of a new coronavirus. This was stated on Monday by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang.
"First, I would like to ask you from what sources you took this information [about Kim Jong-un's deteriorating health]. I have no information on this account," he said at a regular briefing. We have provided the North Korean side with equipment for conducting medical tests. The Chinese authorities are fighting the spread of coronavirus in their country and at the same time provide assistance to States that need it. This issue [of Kim Jong-un's well-being] is not related to the group of medical specialists [sent to Pyongyang]."
The diplomat also stressed that China and North Korea are close neighbors who traditionally maintain friendly relations.
On Saturday, Reuters reported that Chinese authorities sent a team of specialists to Pyongyang, which included medical experts. This information is linked to earlier rumors about possible health problems for Kim Jong-un.
According to CNN, the US is studying intelligence data on the deterioration of the health of the leader of the DPRK after allegedly undergoing surgery. She did not provide any confirmation of this information.
