Morgan Evans tells the fifth episode of the Over For You docuseries, which will air on February 28. The 37-year-old author discusses his 2022 musical journey as well as the consequences of his failed marriage to Kelsea Ballerini.
Morgan performed his own song about the marriage in the first episode of the Over For You docuseries (“The Return”), which she did not release until she announced the end of her marriage via her Instagram Story.
Morgan said he felt like he gave it my all-clear, genuine, and all-encompassing voice. It was like channeling all of that awfulness into something positive.
Because he didn't know "what the right thing to do is, because it's the most authentic thing I've ever communicated through music," he said.
Kelsea, 29, announced on her Instagram Story that she and Morgan had separated after five years of marriage. "This is now a public record, so I wanted you to know directly that I am going through a divorce," she wrote. "This profoundly difficult decision is the result of a journey of love, growth, and effort that has come to an end."
In the divorce papers, Kelsea cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their separation, and shortly after, Morgan confirmed the affair. "I wish it were otherwise but unfortunately it is not," he wrote.
Kelsea released the Rolling Up The Welcome Mat EP, which included songs about the breakup, including "Mountain With A View," which responds directly to "Over For You." She later admitted that her desire to have kids (and him not being an "old dad") was one of the reasons for the breakup.
Morgan said while looking out at the sun in Queensland, Australia, the sojourn back allowed him to recharge and tackle any issues that might arise.
