The main plot focuses on a family of aliens from a better planet who try to live and stay among normal people in middle America. They are not sure if this makes them happy or sad. There is a parallel plot where a society of humans is sunk by the replicant Yumyulack and imprisoned in a terrarium known as "The Wall."
