The Pentagon Has Decided On The Order Of Testing The Military On COVID-19
The Pentagon is not yet able to systematically test all military personnel for coronavirus, so it is focusing on key areas, according to the Associated Press.
First of all, the analysis for COVID-19 is passed by the soldiers responsible for nuclear weapons and counter-terrorism operations. Also, it is planned to test the entire crew of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, which will soon go to sea. This was considered important so that in this case, the history that happened to other US Navy ships, on-board of which many cases of infection were detected, would not be repeated.
Currently, the Pentagon can conduct 7 thousand tests a day. By June, this figure is planned to increase to 60 thousand.
At the same time, 60 thousand tests a day for the army is not enough, according to the US Defense Department. They expect that this problem will be solved during the summer, and it will be possible to conduct a sufficient number of daily checks in all branches of the armed forces.
According to the American Johns Hopkins University, 939,249 cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in the United States. 53,934 people died.
