Project Fantasy, an online role-playing game from Hitman, has been announced by the developer ...

IO Interactive, a Hitman developer, is taking a step beyond its comfort zone with its next project, a currently unnamed online fantasy RPG. The studio, which is well-known for the Hitman series' strategic assassinations and creative combat, has announced its intentions for "Project Fantasy" at the IO website. The concept art (above) gives us a first glimpse of a magical world previously unknown.

The studio explained that its fantasy role-playing game is both familiar and new, with a "world and a game built as the core to entertain players and expand for many years to come."

For Project Fantasy, IO sounds like it will return to familiar magical experiences. Though today's announcement is brief, it does match with a forecast for 2021 that the game would be named "Project Dragon."

A handful of videos from the IO crew that led the charge on the online fantasy project highlight a whole new world that was created by IO from the ground up.

Fans of IO will know that the studio is also working on a James Bond game, "Project 007." It's still unclear whether or not it will be a worthwhile entry into the legend's past. Stay tuned for further information on Project 007 and Project Fantasy.
