The Antonov An-225 Mriya is nothing less than a legendary aircraft. It was the largest aircraft to have ever flown through the sky in 1988, and it was put in a hangar for a few years before returning to commercial flight in 2002.

Twelve waste heat boilers, each weighing 150 tons, were shipped from Iquique Airport on the Pacific coast to Chimoré Airport in four weeks, or a 187-ton generator for a gas-fired power facility from Frankfurt to Armenia, or a good 1,000 cubic meters of medical equipment from Tianjin to Warsaw.

The aircraft was unfortunately destroyed in a Russian attack on Hostomel Air Base in Ukraine last year. Now it is at least digitally restored. Antonov has announced that they are working with professionals from IniBuilds and Microsoft to integrate the aircraft into Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The Mriya is scheduled to be available for download on February 27th, the one-year anniversary of its destruction. According to IniBuilds, the download will be $20, with "all proceeds going to Antonov/Ukraine." True Flight Simulator enthusiasts will be unable to wait to take the gigantic airship through the virtual sky.
