TikTok is being removed from Canadian government workers' phones and other mobile devices by February 28. The social networking app "poses a serious security threat to consumers."

Fortier said there is no evidence that the TikTok app has compromised any of Canada's private information. However, she advised the population as a whole to "make an informed choice for themselves."

A TikTok Canada spokesperson said the business was "disappointed" with the decision and that the government did nothing to contact TikTok in advance.

Note that this isn't the first time that government employees have had to remove TikTok from their phones by March 15th. And late last year, the US House of Representatives was prohibited from using TikTok on official devices.
