Due to emulation, the Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance: HD Remastered version is now available ...

Anyone who has a copy of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for PS2 who will be surprised by its ability to recreate it in high definition due to theemulation on PC.

The emulator is the PCSX2version 1.7.4, and as shown in the following video from youtuber "NoBigDeal La," you can make a lot of difference in terms of visual enjoyment of the game.

Emulation is a legal process as long as you have an original copy of the game that is being emulated. It is also one of the most effective ways to preserve titles from the past, especially when publishers are no longer interested in repurposing them for future generations.

Let's see what we've seen so far.

NoBigDeal La created a high-resolution texture pack for PCSX2, which you may download here. Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance runs in 4K at 60fps. The system used for the test includes: an i9 13900K CPU and a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU.

The results are astounding. PCSX2 supports mouse and keyboard controls, so you don't even need a controller to operate it. Naturally the game shows the PS2 keys on the screen, but this is impossible, unless some hack.
