Beyond Good & Evil 2: The managing director has left Ubisoft, what will happen to the game? ...

Beyond Good & Evil 2 won the little-coveted award of game with the longest development times ever last year, first presented in 2008, then re-announced in 2017. The solution appears to be getting increasingly complicated for the ambitious Sci-Fi project.

According to Kotaku's webpages, Ubisoft Montpellier's managing director was informed that his absence from the transalpine company has occurred. The news comes as the studio is being investigated by local government agencies (Inspection du Travail) for an unprecedented number of developers who are experiencing burnout and on sick leave.

A Ubisoft spokesperson told Kotaku in an email that the company's health and well-being is a permanent concern. "The Montpellier development team is conducting wellbeing assessments through third parties to identify preventative measures and assess where additional assistance may be needed."

Guillaume Carmona, an Ubisoft employee who worked for for over two decades, left his Paris office in 2019 to take over as the studio responsible for imagining Rayman. Carmona declined to respond when asked why he had dropped out of the company.

According to reports from Kotaku, Emile Morel, the game's senior creative director, has been fired. Guillaume Brunier, the game's executive producer, has been named next to Benjamin Dumaz.

The fate of the game is becoming more hazy, but in January this year, Ubisoft ensured that Beyond Good & Evil 2's development would continue at their facilities.
