As long as state regulators in other countries pay close attention to the acquisition, the situation with Activision Blizzard will only worsen. Xbox is currently assisting competitors in arranging sweet deals, such as recent partnerships with Nintendo and NVIDIA. The real problem in the deal, however, is Sony, who is currently posing many of the challenges it has faced.
Phil Spencer commented on this issue today. Even if the purchase fails, the Xbox brand will continue to thrive.
The executive expressed displeasure with the government's tight control, claiming that it wreaks havoc on competition and weakens those in direct competition (in this case, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo).
Spencer talked about regulators not having enough knowledge on the topic at hand, making things difficult for Xbox in the long run. Whatever he thinks about it, Phil is still willing to assist regulators in whatever way they need.
