Xiaomi has unveiled the Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition, a compact headset that shares the Quest Pro's Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 processor. These sunglasses provide an elegant way to connect the digital and real worlds without having to connect to a physical device.

The headset is weighed 126 grams, made of magnesium-titanium alloy and carbon fiber components. Xiaomi claims it will reduce the user's physical burden (although it is commonly believed that more than 100g is still too much for long-term wear).

The headset has two high-pixel density microOLED displays connected to two light-guiding prisms, which claim to have less brightness loss than their competitors, with a peak brightness of 1200 nits. For total immersion, the front lenses are electrochromic, automatically dimming when you need to focus on the virtual world.

Improved hand tracking allows for a fresh way of interacting with virtual objects. In the concept video, the user disables smart lighting by flipping a virtual switch floating in the air.

Qualcomm's aim to utilize the Snapdragon Spaces platform to improve mixed reality devices is to have these AR glasses delivered at a low latency level. The company promises to work closely with designers to ensure the establishment of a decent AR environment. Unfortunately, the price or availability of the device has not been released yet.
