Jalyn Hall, a 16-year-old actor, was proudly clutching the 2023 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Performance in a Motion Picture nomination for Till.
"It's fantastic. I love the recognition," he said on Saturday (Feb. 25). "But more so the recognition of the film and the message behind it."
As he adds more projects to his resume, he talks more about what he hopes to contribute to Black Hollywood's legacy.
"I hope to demonstrate not only the intelligence and beauty and power, but also the effort and humanity that we hold," added Hall. "It's the goal of life," she adds. "It's important that a person's personality be altered to conform to Hollywood standards. Of course, my mom has to monitor me, and I don't intend to."
The rising talent outlined the responsibilities he hopes to fulfill in the future.
“The more historical, the better. I like to portray historical people in a different light.”
