Xiaomi has unveiled the Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition, a compact headset that shares the Quest Pro's Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 processor. The glasses are said to represent an elegant means to connect digital and real worlds without using a physical connection.

The headset is made of magnesium-titanium alloy and carbon fiber parts and weighs 126g. Xiaomi claims it will lower the physical burden on the user by reducing the physical strain on the user (although more than 100g is considered to be excessive for long-term wear).

The headset is powered by two high-pixel density microOLED displays connected to two light-guiding prisms. It claims less brightness loss than its competitors, with a peak brightness of 1200 nits. For total immersion, the front lenses are electrochromic, automatically dimming when you need to focus on the virtual world.

Improved hand tracking allows a user to interact with virtual objects in a new way. In the concept video, the user disables intelligent lighting by flipping a virtual switch floating in the air.

Qualcomm's goal to enhance mixed reality devices is to include these AR glasses in its Snapdragon Spaces platform. A Xiaomi headset paired with a compatible device such as the new Xiaomi 13 promises low latency that the user will not notice the absence of a wire.
