For the second time in less than a year, Redmond has offered to owners of computers that are not compatible with Windows 11 to install the operating system on their machine.
Windows 11 is Microsoft's latest operating system : he is the one who gives access to the most advanced features, whether in terms of performance or security. It only requires that it meet certain conditions in order to be able to run it on a computer. This is an area on which Microsoft is inflexible, because it is one of the most highlighted.
If you install Windows 11 on a PC that isn't old enough to meet the requirements, you'll find yourself facing a wall. This is even without relying on Microsoft's security features, which often allows people who don't normally have the right to install Windows 11.
Microsoft has offered to enable Windows 11, but...
Owners of a Windows 10 laptop that is normally incompatible with Windows 11 were invited by Microsoft to update their computer to benefit from the new version of the operating system last week. Various users have commented on this amazing situation on Twitter.
PhantomOcean3, an anonymous user, has published screenshots of a Microsoft proposal for a Windows 10 22H2 virtual machine that would have no TPM chip and only 2 GB of RAM. Other people have confirmed that they received the same invitation on their computers.
Despite the fact that the users accepted this offer, this time it was impossible for them to continue with the installation. Last year, a similar situation arose, but in this case, they were able to complete the forbidden update.
Microsoft apologizes and resolves the issue.
The Redmond company responded very swiftly to the problem. "These ineligible Windows 10 and Windows 11, version 21H2 devices were offered an incorrect upgrade to Windows 11," according to the company in a support note. "These ineligible devices did not meet the minimum system requirements to run Windows 11. "
Microsoft did not provide further information on the reason why this problem was discovered, but it was swiftly addressed. It's possible that some users stayed for a few days while the patch's propagation lasted.
If you do not have a basic computer that is compatible with Windows 11, do not respond to the invitation : This is most likely a Microsoft error. It is also possible that a virus is involved, which might result in system failures.
