Although more and more significant applications are being removed from the Apple marketplace, the company's products are still in demand among a fairly large number of users in Russia. iPhone imports from India increased dramatically last year, according to Vedomosti.
The publication refers to a report from the GS Group holding, which reflects both the total volume of iPhone imports into India as well as the imports of Apple products from other countries. India was reported to have contributed 15% of all parallel iPhone imports to Russia in 2022.
So, from May to December last year, 165,000 iPhones were shipped from India to Russia. In the same year in 2021, only 70 thousand of the corresponding gadgets were imported from India, which is more than half the amount year on year.
Indien was previously not a major iPhone exporter to Russia, although it contributed just 2.2 percent of the Apple products to the domestic market, according to sources. The main iPhone supplier to the Russian market is still China.
According to media reports, the iPhone 14 would be delivered to Russia via parallel imports in September last year. However, the volume of parallel imports of Apple products to Russia is indistinguishable from those from official channels in 2021.
