12 million copies of Hogwarts Legacy have been sold ...

Hogwarts Legacy sells 12 million units and $850 million USD across the world in its first two weeks of release, according to WB Games.

Despite the game being roiled by the Wizarding World IP, on which this game and the Harry Porter series are based, J.K. Rowling is credited.

Within that short window of release, the sales figure puts it roughly as big as the biggest Sony first-party game launch that was God Of War Ragnarok, which should explain why PlayStation was actively supporting it — even broadcasting a whole State Of Play for it.

Elden Ring has sold 12 million copies, but it isn't Elden Ring's actual sales figures. We'll see how many copies we'll sell in a year's time.

The key takeaway from this is that single-player AAA games still have a large player base.

Hogwarts Legacy takes place before Harry Potter's books and introduces you as a new student in Hogwarts. You'll meet people and discover the world's many mysteries as well as participate in school and after-school activities.

The game is now available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S, and will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch on July 25.
