In CS: GO, Valve refunded the player the money for the item that was changed ...

L4GX2, a player who acquired the skin AWP | Doodle Lore, revealed his journey in a Twitlonger.

According to the player, this was his first experience with Steam support, and he was dissatisfied with the appearance of AWP | Duality, which replaced AWP | Doodle Lore in his inventory. After contacting a friend who was in the same situation, he discovered that tech support provided the same answer.

After that, the player carefully read the Marketplace rules and the Steam license agreement, which did not state that such a purchase without the possibility of a refund is in any way consistent with European Union regulations. Six days later, he received a response that Steam was prepared to reimburse him.

After the original skin was accused of plagiarism, CS:GO released a new version on February 16th.
