Several photos of Brittney Griner's first practice session following her return to the WNBA have been circulated online. In addition, Phoenix Mercury is apparently giving her the shoot-around session.

On Tuesday, the 32-year-old professional footballer was all smiles as she practiced her stances on the practice court.

Griner's latest pictures come just a couple of days after she signed a one-year deal to return to her old club.

Griner has not played in the WNBA since the 2021 season.

Besides that, she scored an average of 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds during her time as a coach for the Mercury in the WNBA Finals.

Brittney Griner posted a tweet on her social media account in December, revealing that she is returning to the United States of America following her 10-month sentence in Russia.

Griner was apprehended at an airport just outside Moscow in February 2022, for reasons of drug possession.

Despite her imprisonment, she returned to her house in a high-level prisoner exchange with Russian weapons dealer Viktor Bout, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison and 14 years in prison.

Following the announcement, Mercury's general manager Jim Pitman spoke about Griner's return in an interview.

'We missed BG every day she was gone. While basketball was not our main concern, her presence on the court, in our locker room, around our organization, and within our community was hugely missed,' says the author.

'We will continue to use our resources to assist her, both on and off the court,' he said. We are so happy for her that she may return to basketball, which she so much loves. Today is a special occasion for everyone.'

'To know BG is to love and appreciate BG,' said Vince Kozar, the president of Mercury's business operations, 'and we can't wait to show her that in person with thousands and thousands of her biggest supporters in the coming months.'
