The First Contact DLC will provide new ways to interact with civilizations that existed before the FTL, new cloaking technology, as well as new beginnings, storylines, and gameplay mechanics.
Features of the First Contact Story Pack:
Broken Chains (about escaping a group of space prisoners), Fear of the Dark (about exploring uncharted regions of the galaxy) a new feature that allows for a wider spectrum of interactions with civilizations that existed before the FTL, depending on their level of technology and awareness of you. Cloaking technology that will allow ships to be lined with cloaking devices to perform reconnaissance or take the enemy by surprise.
The free 3.7 Canis Minor update for First Contact will be released on March 14 along with a number of improvements and improvements for all players.
