These players were using third-party software that was unlawful.
Valve has banned more than 40,000 Dota 2 players who used cheats. During the same time, the company closed the vulnerabilities with which these cheats operated.
The way cheaters were identified is noteworthy. The developers took the bait: they released a special update for Dota 2, which were not requested by the game itself, but were used by cheaters.
When playing Dota 2, Valve has stated that it is forbidden to utilize third-party software that receives data from the game client. If such software is discovered, the account may be permanently suspended.
Professional players who are caught cheating face a further fine: they are permanently barred from participating in Valve tournaments.
This is an interesting post.
