The White House Is Considering The Possibility Of Resigning Head Of United States Secretary Of Health And Human Services
The White House is considering resigning United States Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar amid the pandemic, according to Politico.
According to newspaper sources in the Washington administration, the White House is dissatisfied with the measures taken by the head of the Department in the fight against the spread of a new coronavirus in the country. His decision to fire Rick bright, Director of the office of biomedical development and advanced research at the US Department of Health, which is involved in the development of the coronavirus vaccine, also drew criticism.
Azar claimed that he had been promoted and transferred to the National Institutes of Health. According to bright, he was sent to a less prestigious position for political reasons.
Azar's post may be taken by the White House coordinator for the fight against the spread of the coronavirus, Deborah Birks, or Deputy Secretary Eric Hargan. The White House and the Ministry of Health did not confirm this information.
An outbreak of the new coronavirus disease was recorded in late 2019 in Central China and later spread to most countries. On March 11, it was recognized as a pandemic by the world health organization. In the United States, according to the Johns Hopkins University, which makes calculations based on reports of the country's authorities, more than 936.6 thousand cases of coronavirus infection were recorded, 53.6 thousand people died.
