Bungie and AimJunkies have been litigating since April 2021, when the developer filed the first lawsuit. In the fall of 2022, attorneys for AimJunkies filed a counterclaim, but the court rejected it. Ultimately, the judge ruled that the cheaters had violated the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and would have to pay $4,396,222 to Bungie.
Bungie's lawsuit claims that the owner of the website LaviCheats was "very forceful and willful." Besides legal costs, the studio has already filed a new lawsuit against the company.
