To commemorate "Pokémon Day" 2023, the Pokémon Company has announced a new digital showcase, which will begin Monday, February 27, 2023, 9:00 a.m. ET / 6:00 a.m. PT. As such, February 27 is a popular day for Pokémon news announcements.
On Pokémon Day, The Pokémon Company completely blindsided fans by announcing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet with a 2022 release only a month after Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released on Nintendo Switch. Many fans would rather not receive a major new game announcement this February 2023, especially given the many technical difficulties Scarlet and Violet had at the launch.
Although there are some reasonable suggestions about what might be included in Nintendo Switch Online, the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC seems like a slam dunk to release. Chunsoft may also be working on another unexpected spinoff game.
