The Chinese Foreign Minister Proposed To Hold Talks In China Between The Afghan Authorities And The Taliban
China is ready to organize and hold a new round of negotiations between the authorities and the Taliban movement on its territory (banned in the Russian Federation). That was stated on Wednesday at a ministerial meeting in the format of the SCO - Afghanistan contact group in Dushanbe by Foreign Minister, member of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi.
"The PRC is also ready to organize inter-Afghan negotiations in China at the appropriate time," he is quoted as saying on the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry. He noted that the SCO countries should help the various forces of the Afghan government and the opposition to demonstrate flexibility and seek common ground for resolving contradictions in order to achieve national reconciliation as soon as possible.
"In the future, China will continue to build bridges between all interested parties, provide mediation services for reconciliation, promote and provide its experience to stimulate constructive processes for a political settlement of the Afghan problem, with full respect for the state sovereignty of Afghanistan," Wang Yi concluded.
After the statement of American President Joe Biden about the completion of the US Armed Forces operation in Afghanistan and plans to withdraw troops, the situation in the country sharply worsened. As reported on July 13 in the Pentagon, the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan has been carried out by more than 95%. At the same time, the Taliban movement, according to their representatives, managed to establish control over about 85% of the territory of the republic, including areas along the border with five countries - Iran, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
