We decided to meet with experts in the engineering industry (through a nationwide survey*) to learn their views and opinions on management and innovation, knowledge, and the future for work. The survey findings strongly indicate that engineers are fascinated by the metaverse and the possibility of collaborating on 3D immersive experiences.

Roblox set out on a bold imaginative and prescient to recreate how individuals interact in 3D immersive environments once again in 2004, much earlier than the metaverse became a buzzword. We're glad to see that this imaginative and prescient now goes broadly by the engineering community.

Moreover, a substantial majority (68%) are optimistic about the positive societal impact of immersive 3D web experiences, ranked above applied sciences like crypto/NFT/blockchain (66%) and social media platforms (43%).

Engineers must assist in the creation of the Metaverse.

Although it isn't surprising that just about all engineers (98%) are familiar with the metaverse, what's interesting is their desire to be a part of the process of ushering it into the workplace. This is a question that is very common amongst government managers in engineering.

The metaverse/immersive 3D platforms might be the highest space engineers are considering pursuing as their next career (68%), with digital economies (38%) and security and safety (337%) rounding out the top three areas.

The Future's Engineering Abilities (and Challenges)
