Rikka Sakuragawa rents a supposedly haunted house where three previous tenants have committed their lives in mysterious circumstances in a span of a year. While Kotoko works really hard and eventually manages to track Rikka down, Rikka runs away.
Recap of Season 2 Episode 5 of In/Spectre
Rikka vanished for almost a year, but Kotoko has yet to track her down. Although Rikka informed all yokai and ayakashi in the land to track her, she has yet to get a solid lead. This is due to the fact that Rikka keeps moving around and does not stay in a place long enough.
When she starts out, she meets Kazuyuki, the landlord who introduces her to Marumi, who is equally astounded by Rikka's strange appearance and beauty. However, Marumi becomes concerned when she discovers that Rikka had rented the same property where the previous three renters had taken their own lives. It has now been discovered to be haunted.
Rikka is struck by a speeding truck on the road, and Kazuyuki rushes to assist her, but is surprised to discover that Rikka has no serious injuries due to the brutal collision. Later that evening, Kazuyuki watches horse racing with the betting ticket Rikka has bought for the same game. She is surprised to learn that she has won the lottery.
Rikka tells Kazuyuki that she is leaving the property soon, and that Kotoko will be looking for her there soon. They had talked about her the previous night, so Kazuyuki knows her.
Are There Any Spectres in Rikka's Rented Apartment? What is Kotoko's Theory About the Suicides?
Kotoko arrives at Rikka's rented apartment shortly after she leaves. He finally realizes that Rikka was correct when she called her nasty. After visiting the apartment, Kotoko and Kurou find out that Rikka had been sleeping for a while.
Kotoko explains that the first case was quite self-explanatory. In the third case, the same girl's ex-boyfriend rented the apartment because he believed the death of his ex-lover was related to a supernatural entity.
As three months passed, it became increasingly clear that there were no ghosts there which culminated in him revealing that he could not blame anyone other than himself for his girlfriend's death. He did blame himself for everything, and eventually took his own life.
