During the EVO Japan Tekken 7 tournament, a Tekken 8 Closed Trial will be held, according to Tekken Series Director Katsuhiro Harada. Players who register to join EVO Japan and play Tekken 7 will be authorized to participate in the Tekken 8 local alpha.
Harada made the announcement while greeting the Tekken community following the Tekken World Tour 2022 Grand Finals held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Harada stated that the Tekken 8 closed trial would be a "closed alpha test" using local play, as it is required by EVO Japan's final region competition. Online tests or builds that may be redeemed via store code would be arranged during the "beta" phase of development.
"Alpha" is used to refer to a game that has had all of its major features implemented, such as gameplay systems and modes, but minor improvements are still needed, and not all assets (such as art and models) have been completed, and they undergo rigorous testing to uncover flaws, exploits, and performance deficiencies.
The Tekken 8 closed trial, aka local alpha test, will be held at EVO Japan from March 31, 2023 to April 2, 2023.
