Rockstar Games' GTA V and GTA Online have received a recent update that improved the game's online security in order to correct its worrisome exploit.
The new GTA V and GTA Online update, according to Tez2 on the GTAForums, aims to correct an issue that had jeopardized the security of those who played online on PC. The patch has addressed spoofed RIDs/names and made invitation-only lobbies more secure. Thus, online cheaters may no longer join these lobbies uninvited.
Before the patch, GTA Online was designed to establish connections directly with other players, but relays the connection if no direct connection was established.
GTA Online isn't particularly latency-sensitive, although most players who have stable internet connections should not have issues with the new system. There may even be instances where a direct connection is better than a direct connection.
Tez2 stated that those who play in the Americas will be sent back to the US East Coast (New York) or the US West Coast (San Diego), while those who play in Europe will be sent to Amsterdam, those who play in Asia will be transported to Hong Kong, and those who play in Australia will be transported to Sydney.
Hackers in GTA Online discovered a PC vulnerability that might be used to delete other players' profiles. Additionally, hackers discovered a way to alter player stats and cause a game crash.
