In Hogwarts Legacy, changing a character's appearance without losing gear stats is quite straightforward. It's either a quest line or a station, as it's accessible via the gear menu. All you have to do is highlight a piece of gear and click on the "change appearance" button prompt (in PlayStation's case, square).
Every piece of gear you can change is possible (handwear, facewear, headwear, neckwear, cloaks and robes, and outfit). You may also alter the appearance of items in the robe and cloak gear slot by selecting the "hood on/off" option.
