Baidu's stock has risen 13 percent since the chatbot Ernie was announced in March ...

Baidu, a Chinese company, gained more than 13% of shares after it announced that it is planning to create its own chat bot that would mimic the popular ChatGPT. According to official figures, the new solution will be released in March.

Baidu's stock has reached its highest level in over three months. It has announced that the service would be called Wenxin Yiyan or Ernie Bot – in English. The developer promises to complete internal testing on time by the March debut of its AI technology.

Baidu is China's largest search engine developer, and will integrate Ernie into its main search engines. In theory, the chat bot ChatGPT from OpenAI has the same capabilities, although its integration into search services has not yet been implemented.

Baidu has already spent billions on artificial intelligence (AI) research, according to Bloomberg. Ernie has been training on data arrays for several years and it will be the foundation of Ernie Bot.

More and more players are joining the race, such as OpenAI and Google's own Bard bot based on the LaMDA language model, which is expected to be presented to the general public in the near future, with the likely integration of the solution into search and other services.

Similar developments are also underway in Russia. Thus, Yandex promised to include the chatbot in many of its services before the end of this year.
