The Backrooms, a YouTube series, is being made into a theatrical film, starring A24, Atomic Monster, Chernin Entertainment, and 21 Laps. The film will be directed by Kane Parsons ("Kane Pixels"), its 17-year-old creator, with Roberto Patino writing the script.
What Does a Backrooms Film Mean?
The Backrooms is one of the most fascinating videos to watch on YouTube since, well, ever. Fans are utterly enraptured by the stories that lead up to the title, from the convincing and terrifying visuals to the superb audio design and even voice acting and motion capture.
The funnyst part about the Backrooms film is that Kane will probably film it this summer while he is away from school. A number of famous actors are involved in the film's development, including Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, James Wan, Michael Clear, Alayna Glasthal, and Judson Scott, among others.
"The Backrooms" started out as an internet creepypasta a few years ago, consisting of bizarre liminal spaces. Many filmmakers have experimented with this notion since, in both film and video games, but none have reached the level of commercial success that the Kane Pixels YouTube videos have.
