The manga received a Madhouse anime adaptation that consisted of twenty-six episodes, which aired between April and September 1998.
The manga has been licensed in English, describing the plot as:A mysterious bounty hangs above Vash the Stampede's head, and the gun-wielding pacifist can't seem to find a moment's rest. That's why locals tremble at the very mention of his name. Yet sixty billion double dollars is no ordinary reward, and every trigger-happy psycho is aiming to claim Vash dead or alive!
