After her first GRAMMY nomination and subsequent victory, Viola Davis has finally earned her EGOT certification. Jennifer Hudson and Whoopi Goldberg followed her.
Davis won the Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording award during the 2023 Grammy Awards pre-telecast for her audio memoir, Finding Me, which she co-wrote. “I just EGOT!” exclaimed the Woman King actress, 57, as the crowd erupted in applause.
"You are my life and my joy, to everybody who was a part of my story and the finest chapter yet," she emphasized while battling tears.
Davis became the first woman of color to receive an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role of Annalise Keating in King Hedley II in 2001.
Davis won an Oscar, Emmy, and Tony Award in the acting categories in 2017, respectively.
