According to Legendary's representative, "Detective Pikachu" may still get a sequel.
The second part of the project was announced back in 2019, according to Oren Uzil, who directed the recent Mortal Kombat remake. However, the development process was apparently halted.
Justice Smith, the lead actor from the first film, stated that he does not support the release of a potential sequel in 2021, advising to "give up hope." However, the actor seems to be too quick in his judgements.
The creation of the second film is still in the works, although there are no additional details on this matter. By the way, the original scriptwriters noted that they were not involved in the creation of the sequel, while at the same time referring to the difficult situation with the rights to "Pokemon".
The second film will most likely be influenced by someone else. The first film at the same time was released in late 2019, having raised $ 433 million at the box office. The role of Pikachu himself was then voiced by Ryan Reynolds ("Deadpool"), who later played him.
