Ashley will perform a little differently than in the original and will follow the player's every move in the game's remake. In an interview, two game directors explained why this approach was chosen.
The remake of "Resident Evil 4" is based on the horror film from 2005. Nevertheless, the authors wanted to make some changes and improvements that might affect the gameplay.
Ashley Graham, an AI companion, is no longer a place like an inventory. Players may give her some basic instructions in the remake of "Resident Evil 4." But she will always follow Leon wherever he goes.

Ashley was able to be set down in a secure position by players and take out foes in front of her in an interview with the game publication Game Informer.
“We wanted to have Ashley as a character by your side so that she makes an impression,” Ampo said. “But just letting Ashley go for a while felt like a waste.”

Ashley rewards players for keeping an eye on her with some useful moves that go into play on the surrounding obstacles long before Ashley is rescued, giving players an incentive to revisit areas to explore further with Ashley's assistance.

Ashley has no health bar in the Resident Evil 4 remake. If she takes too many hits, she becomes stuck in a state where the player must help her recover. If this chance passes and Ashley is hit again, it's all over.
Ashley can be picked up by enemies and carried away, which will also fail if she gets too close to Leon. However, the latter can intervene, either by shooting the kidnapper dead or, in a new twist, by piercing his knife into the opponent's neck.
