The Legend of Vox Machina Season 2 Episode 9 has been released on Prime Video, with a final episode titled "A Test of Pride," which follows this week's offer on another intriguing cliffhanger. In this episode, Grog (voiced by Travis Willingham) faces his past in Westruun, alongside comrades Pike (Ashley Johnson) and Scanlan (Sam Riegel), who aim to infiltrate the city. - Flashbacks show how Grog was once a violent warrior, who helped his uncle Kevdak destroy countless towns and villages.
- In the present, Grog, Pike and Scanlan arrive at Westruun, which is now ran by Kevdak and his army. They plan to infiltrate the city and scout out their enemies. Scanlan flirts with Pike and decides to step up to the plate, he transforms into a mosquito.
- Grog admits his troubled past to Pike. He did horrible things as part of the herd. It was Pike’s great great grandfather Wilhand that changed his ways, showing Grog humanity.
- Flashbacks reveal how Grog and Wilhand met. Kevdak’s son, Zanror caught Grog sparing the old man and the two cousins fought. Grog helped Wilhand escape, but was banished for his treachery.
- Scanlan flies into the city and spies on the half-giants. He overhears Zanror saying that he hates the dragon alliance and wants to take over as the herd’s leader. Scanlan’s powers wear off and he returns to his normal form. He hides from the half-giants and finds more survivors in the city’s wreckage.
- A youthful Pike and Wilhand once healed Grog to full health, but Pike had forgotten that first meeting. She tries to comfort Grog in the present, but he is ashamed of his past.
- Umbrasyl returns to Westruun, along with Ripley. Kevdak brings out their loot. Ripley is unimpressed with the meager offering and asks Umbrasyl to take Kevdak’s gauntlets. Umbrasyl orders the half-giants to return with more gold or else he’ll take Kevdak’s arms as payment.
- Zanror challenges Kevdak for leadership and the father beats his son.
- The survivors ask Scanlan for help and they plan an escape mission. Meanwhile, Grog and Pike infiltrate the city. These two groups eventually bump into one another.
- Grog says he isn’t leaving, he is going to challenge Kevdak for leadership. Pike says it is a suicide mission, but Grog won’t listen.
- Kevdak throws his son off a balcony to prove a point. Grog challenges his uncle.

- Grog is the weakest he has ever been, since Craven Edge took all his muscles. I don’t see how Grog can challenge Kevdak for overall power. Kevdak has the power of the vestiges and even without them he would still easily defeat Grog. Does the Vox Machina half-giant have some miracle plan up his sleeve?
- Pike and Scanlan may come to the rescue, fearing Grog’s chances. They will use their powers to help save Grog, but he won’t win over the others in the herd.
- The rest of the Vox Machina clan have returned to Tal’Dorei after their Fey Realm jaunt. They will hunt out their friends and continue their search for the other vestiges.
