Sony released the full data for the last financial quarter of the 2022 fiscal year, revealing 7.1 million consoles sold in the last quarter of the year.
The Sony Interactive Entertainment division has seen a positive trend in the last quarter of 2021, with a +53.3% turnover.
Overall, 12.8 million PS5s were sold in the 2022 fiscal year alone, making it possible for the goal of 18 million units to be completed by March 2023, the month in which Q4 ended, owing to the company's ability to distribute more units.
To commemorate this milestone, the Japanese company has launched several prize competitions (including one in Italy) as part of a comprehensive, and extensive, marketing campaign aimed at reminding us that PlayStation 5 is now much easier to acquire. Given the figures obtained in Q3 2022, we wouldn't be surprised if PS5 surpasses Sony's goal.
