Nick Carter is still a popular singer in the music industry as he is a member of The Backstreet Boys. However, according to reports, he is now challenging the woman who accused him of sexual assault over 21 years ago.
Carter claims that a woman is intentionally tarnishing his reputation with a series of lies, and he is now suing her for the more than $2.35 million she claims has cost his boy band. According to TMZ, a Backstreet Boys member filed a countersuit against Shannon Ruth on Thursday.
In December, Ruth filed a lawsuit against Nick, alleging that he sexually molested her after a concert back in 2001 when she was a minor. Nick, according to court filings obtained by TMZ, will not allow himself to be tarnished by Ruth's claims, which he vigorously refutes, and that her lawsuit is the result of an ongoing plot to defame him.
Nick claims that Jerome and Melissa Schuman, a father-and-daughter team, have trained Ruth to fabricate personal information in an effort to extort money from him. Besides that, he criticized all three for attempting to exploit the #MeToo movement.
According to Carter, Ruth has repeatedly changed her story. She claims that Nick first accused her of sexual assault before making a sexual assault complaint. Nick also claimed that Ruth filed no charges as a result of an independent inquiry.
Nick claims Ruth and the Schumans preyed on and exploited Aaron before his death.
Aaron apologized to Nick and declared the accused to be lying, according to Nick. On the day Aaron died, Jerome Schuman tweeted, "Night's"
Michael Holtz, Nick's attorney, was called by TMZ, who stated, "Nick has been the target of a malicious and long-running plot," according to our Counterclaim.
Ruth's attorneys haven't commented on this matter until now, but Thirsty For News will keep you updated on the progress.
