Following the postponement of other games in the studio, The Coalition is expected to develop Gears 6.
Jeff Grubb claimed that The Coalition, the creator of Gears 4 and 5, has canceled a smaller non-Gears project along with another one, and that their next game will be Gears 6.
Grubb claims that the smaller project as well as another project have been canceled by Microsoft and Xbox Game Studios, including The Coalition.
Grubb stated that the studio has now moved on to the next entry in the Gears of War series, Gears 6, and that it has probably been working on the game for the last year. It is all set to be the studio's next game.
Cliff Bleszinski, the creator of Gears of War 3, had previously explained the original direction he intended to take the Locust in following Gears 3, and he shared concept art for never-before-seen Locust character designs, including an underwater Boomer and Ticker.
Bleszinski also shared concept art for what appeared to be Gears 4's main antagonist, the "New Big Bad." None of these ideas could be implemented into a game until Xbox acquired rights to the IP. While working on Lawbreakers, Bleszinski continued to work on the multiplayer title.
